BOAT, TRAILER, RV STORAGE DURING THE OFF SEASON

November 1 through March 31, boats, trailers and RVs must be stored indoors or if outdoors, in areas where permitted, then only in the rear yard on a pad.  (They can never be stored outdoors in the Turnberry subdivisions, Brighton Oaks, Hidden Lakes and The Reserve.)

CURFEW

Except as provided in Section 13.06-C of the Village Code, it shall be unlawful for any person less than 17 years of age to be present in or upon any public road, street, alley or park, or other lands used for public purposes or in any public place of business or amusement in the Village at the following times:

Between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday

Between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday

Between 11:00 p.m. on Sunday to Thursday, inclusive, and 6:00 a.m. on the following day;

Curfew hours for the day preceding a holiday shall be the same as for Saturday and Sunday.

LEAF BURNING

Open burning of leaves and debris is prohibited in the Village.

LEASH LAW

The Village has a leash law which requires that dogs be leashed when not on the owner’s property. Additionally, anyone walking a dog must clean up after the dog if it deposits waste on public or private property. We encourage all residents to be considerate of their neighbors with the above issues, as well as not leaving dogs outside if they bark.

NOISE

Radios, Television sets and the like are considered a nuisance if heard beyond a property line or between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day. Loudspeakers, public address systems and the like are considered a nuisance if heard beyond a property line or between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day.  Domestic power tools (snowblowers are exempted if required for snow) cannot be used outside the home before 7:00 a.m. or after 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, nor before 9:00 a.m. or after 8:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. These hours also apply to construction activity.
 

PARKING

No parking is permitted on Village streets where signs are posted to that effect.

 

PHOSPHOROUS FREE FERTILIZERS

The Village of Lakewood prohibits the use of phosphorous based fertilizers.  Following is a list of lawn care services and stores in the general area that provide phosphorous free fertilizers:

TREE PRESERVATION PROGRAM

The Village has an ongoing tree program to care for all parkway trees.  Any tree or shrub which interferes with traffic should be trimmed by the owner of the abutting property.  Homeowners are responsible for removing dead or dangerous trees on their property.  A tree removal permit, which is provided free of charge, is required before the removal of any trees, including dead or diseased ones, that are more than 20 feet tall or at least 6 inches in diameter at a height of 12 inches above the ground.  The conditions for which a tree removal permit may be issued are listed in the Village's Landscaping Code.  Tree Removal Permit Request Form, please email the form to info@village.lakewood.il.us  There is a 24 - 48 hour processing time for approval, except in the case of storm damage with imminent danger.
