Libraries

The Village of Lakewood is not part of a library district.  The State of Illinois has instituted a law which requires that residents who desire to join a library, and who are not part of a library district, only join the library which is in the same high school district in which they reside. Therefore, Lakewood residents in the Turnberry Meadows subdivision and Hidden Lakes Subdivision who wish to join a library must apply to the Huntley Area Public Library. All other Village residents must apply to the Crystal Lake Public Library. Library cards from each library are good for all service at any library in the state. A college library card is available free of charge to all residents who show proof of residency. The college has a lending library and reference section.
