GARAGE SALE PERMITS

Residents are permitted up to three garage sales within a 12-month period.  Garage sales can be held for up to 3 days at a time between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Permits are required and are free of charge.  Residents must stop in at Village Hall any time prior to the sale to fill out an application form and obtain the permit. Vehicles, boats, etc. that are displayed for sale can only be parked in a resident's driveway.  Any other items for sale are considered a garage sale and require a permit to be displayed outside.  For more information and to learn about allowable signage, please see Chapter 33.03 of the Village Code.

HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS

Temporary permits (valid for up to 3 months) can be obtained at Village Hall free of charge when residents provide authorization from their physician.  Permanent permits can only be obtained at Secretary of State Drivers License facilities.
 

VOTING REGISTRATION AND POLLING PLACES

You can register to vote at Lakewood Village Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Absentee ballots must be obtained from the County Clerk’s Office, McHenry County Government Center, 2200 N. MCRide
Whether you need transportation for work, school, shopping or visiting a friend, MCRide Dial-A-Ride now provides Lakewood residents an affordable and stress-free way to travel. This program provides curb-to-curb, wheelchair accessible service to eligible riders in the service area. Simply call 1-800-451-4599 the day before you need a ride or same day (with 2 hours advance notice) and let them know your pick-up and drop-off location, along with your desired pick-up-time. There is a base fare of $2.00 for the first five miles, $0.25 cents for each additional mile. If you are a senior over the age of 60, or someone with a disability, you will receive a discounted fare. When your scheduled pick-up time arrives, meet the MCRide bus at the curb and enjoy the trip to your destination. MCRide is a shared-ride service, so you may even meet a new friend along the way!
